Bamboo forest story

Hello and Welcome to www.nipponcraft.com,

There are many bamboo forests in Japan (there used to be lot more in the past) and it is getting a good season to visit there. It's very refreshing to go into forests in spring time. There is a famous bamboo forest pavement in Kyoto called  "Sagano Chiku-rin" nearby Arashiyama railway station. This is a nice place to spend your time walking through there.

Bamboos are so common in Japan that they are printed on many traditional crafts such as tenugui and noren curtain.

By the way, we have many earthquakes in Japan and it is often said that it's safe to escape into a bamboo forest when a big earthquake occurs.  Bamboo roots are strongly nested together underground, so they protect yourself from earthquake's ground cracks.
