A Mikoshi is a portable shrine. At several coastal regions, there remains traditional festivals in which men carry a Mikoshi into the sea wishing good luck and peace. This kind of festivals are often held even in cold sea in winter time. Travellers from foreign countries may find it hard to reach to this kind of festivals, because all information is often listed in Japanese nor the information may not be listed in travel guide books.
